This new self build Ecohouse in Kettering in the village of Broughton, directly adjacent to the church incorporated a wide range of sustainability features and integrated design to successfully obtain planning permission.

Key features

  • Roof modified to collect rainwater for supplying a rainwater harvesting tank for re-use within the dwelling.
  • Windows orientated to capture solar gains and daylight.
  • Project delivered in line with the Code for Sustainable Homes standards.
  • Photovoltaic array to offset grid supplied electricity, reducing running costs and carbon emissions.
  • Triple glazing to raise internal surface temperature to feel more comfortable and further retain space heat
  • Stack ventilation using high-level clerestory windows

Low Carbon Box also completed the design stage and as-built stage SAP Calculation.
